On Wednesday, September 29th, we and Sir Quigley can finally go a little off-road again. A place recommended by Chris has to be reached, whereby the last half hour drive is very rocky. And we will be rewarded again. After the route through the forest, the clearing opens and we are right by the sea. We drive on the sandy beach and find a spot in a sheltered area - the forest behind us and the sea in front of us - gigantic. Here we play speedminton, unpack the canoe and float on the water and Lynda does motorcycle driving lessons under difficult conditions (very sandy). And not a soul around us.
We continue to our final state, Nova Scotia - for this we even have to register in order to be allowed to enter - so far the only control we have had. Nova Scotia is beautiful. Lynda sometimes struggles to keep the van on the road because she has to look so much ☺️ small places with a lot of charm. Sunday, October 3rd. We find a place to sleep on a bay overlooking New Brunswick. In between ATV drivers come by, otherwise we only hear the rushing of the sea and the babbling of the brook. And then the Hummer arrives ... Trace and Seth with their 3 dogs. They come here almost every day to take their dogs for a walk (for this the dogs run the 10 km to the beach). We quickly start to chat and since we are staying here for 2 nights we spend some time together. We experience a wonderful evening with the two of them, first by the fire in front of our van and then until late at night in the hut, which is located directly above the bay and has a wood stove. A great time!!! And not just because Lynda was able to drive the Hummer 😉 Thank you, Trace & Seth!
We go on to the “last evening in freedom” - who would have thought that. Our trip is nearing its end and the 4 months are almost over. As of tomorrow we will have a motel in Halifax, as we still have a few things to do before Sir Quigley can be shipped. Tuesday, October 5th. We find a wonderful place to stay in the middle of a lake landscape. The lake is super smooth and the silence around us and the beautiful sunset is just the right farewell for our tour.
It is now Tuesday, October 12th in Halifax. We have achieved a lot in the last few days ... Completely clear the van, clean it up, pack our things, pick up the spare parts from the shipping company, put the van back in its place, dismantle everything that can be used from the vans in the scrap yard, in between there was also an oil change and a new windshield for Sir Quigley. Today we are sending Sir Quigley on the great journey across the water.
Yes, we're already excited - will everything work out with the van and the shipping? Sure, of course! And we are now really looking forward to Germany and all of our friends and family. Of course we are sad anyway ...
There will be another blog about this tour - from Germany. We will report how it worked out at the port, how our last 2 days in Montreal were and how it feels to be back in Germany. Stay tuned and we look forward to seeing you!
PS: now we have been in Canada for 1 month and we have NOT seen a single moose. Instead about 1 million signs warning of these beautiful animals - our theory on this: there are definitely more of these signs than there are actually moose ☺️ Well, maybe next time 🙂
